National Train Day in Williams Az

Gentlemen,

We are beginning our planning for National Train Day 2012, which will be May 12th & 13th.  I expect activities to be mostly the same as last year.

I would like to know if your organizations are interested in participating again.  Also, any suggestions for improvement on the event would be appreciated.  I did receive some last year at the conclusion of the event – notably better signage, but anything you’ve thought about over the past 8 months will be taken into consideration.

Looking forward to seeing you all again this year!

 Eric Hadder

GCR Locomotive Manager

                                                                               Dear Friends,

I always look forward to Vail Pride Day.  It is a great time to reconnect with people we don't see very often and
see the great things that Vail students and school staffs as well as community organizations are doing.

The Centennial Tent, co-hosted by the Vail Preservation Society and the Vail Community Action Board,
will be full of great hands-on activities and live entertainment "Under the Big Top". The entire committee
has been working hard to make sure that it  will be a great addition to the day.

The Centennial Committee needs your help.

1 hour, 4 hours, one day or two-we need you!

Can you greet guests with a smile? Set up and take down chairs and tables? Hand out programs, help color
Vail paperdolls with kids, decorate the tent? Dress up for the occasion (or not-not manditory :) in western or historical
costume (1870s thru 1950s)? Help with the Territorial Encampment-show them how it was done in the "old days"
demonstrate washing clothes on a wash-board, use clothes pins, supervise the "dress-up" trunk, show how
food was transported and stored?  Can you help record community stories with a digital recorder? Serve Birthday cake?
Help guest addthemselves to the giant timeline? Willing to help unpack and repack for storage at the end of the event?
Give presenters at tables a break to get a bite to eat, use the restroom? Be in charge of the guest book or 1st aide kit?

If you said yes to any of these (and many more tasks not listed ) WE NEED YOU!

Friday, February 17, 2012  9:00-5:00 setting up, decorating, helping tablers get their things in place and checking in.
Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012    8:00-6:30  final set-up, check in, and "running the show", then break-down, clean-up, re-packing
supplies (we save and re-use most of our supplies and decorations) and getting back to
                                          destination of origin.

Email us at vailpreservationsociety@gmail.com or call J.J. at 419-4428 and tell us
when you are available and if you have a preference for task.

Thank you!  Together we will make great things happen in the Centennial Tent at Vail Pride Day.

Vail Pride Day Centennial Tent Committee Chairs,

J.J. Lamb, Claudia Anderson, Anne Gibson

We look forward to hearing  from you!

HELP
The club still wants/ needs more events to go to and set up a layout at. It doesn't have to be big, Ntrak is so flexible we can make a layout into almost any shape and size. The club needs your help in finding events to go in Tucson, AZ or nearby, for example near San Diego or in NM. We also need your help in finding a somewhat permanent place to set up a small or large layout in. Please if you have any ideas for space/ events or you have extra space in the Tucson Area then please contact us via e-mail and we will promptly get a back to you.
Our 'space' needs are something along the lines of:
Needs to have electricity to run layout.
Heating, cooling and water are not needed (that all can be used via power fans, heaters and lights through outlets).
A good sized room, garage, shed, basement, small building, etc.. Is ideal for the club.
Something with its own access, something that has its own door to where we can have access at all times.
Looking for something close to Tucson.
Would like to be able to move in our stuff for a minimum of a few months (other wise its not worth it to set it up).
We can pay rent, but only a very small amount (less than $50 per month).

This list will give you an idea of what were looking for, but changes can be made. Please help us!
Thanks,
Tucson Ntrak
